As we’ve learned with recent Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the best way to help victims of disaster is to make monetary donations to responsible organizations.

Those who wish to help victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico may want to donate directly to United for Puerto Rico

Visit the Twitter Page for the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration: PRFAA

Those wishing to volunteer should contact Puerto Rico VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster). Before heading to any disaster site, be sure you have received approval from the local Disaster Relief Coordinators. Never simply “show up” at the site of a disaster such as this.

Please note that the food banks all recommend calling to find out what they need before sending items or having a food drive for their benefit.
