Community Leaders Club (Grade 9, 10, 11. & 12)

This is a community leadership program that provides high school students with opportunities to work with and mentor younger students including those with special needs. Students are provided with training on presentation skills, facilitating groups, and coordinating community-based programs.  Previous program activities have included a variety of community service projects including volunteering and fundraising, cross-age teaching,  environmental initiatives, participation in Student Conferences, Summits, and/or Panels. Students in this program are expected to be positive role models in the community and are committed to an ATOD-free lifestyle (Alcohol, Tobacco, Other Drugs). This program provides excellent experience in community programming which can enhance any college application. Students meet once a month at Monmouth Court Community Center from 5:30-7:00 pm as well as additional days/times, as needed. Pizza and refreshments are provided.

The goals of Community Leaders are:

(1) To promote and maintain an ATOD-free lifestyle.

(2) To give students an opportunity to make a positive contribution to their school and their community by engaging in service to others.

(3)  To provide personal growth experiences and opportunities for social bonding.
